The ice thickness on the Chain of Lakes is only 6-8″ in late January 2024 with warm weather on the way. We saw two pickup trucks parked side-by-side next to a heavy ice-fishing house over by Diamond Point. This is asking really a lot of the ice because it has to bend down to float that weight.
