One of the reasons that people are drawn to the Wabana Chain of Lakes is that so much of the shore is natural and undeveloped. This is due to so many of the people on the Wabana Chain either paying the taxes on natural shores or working to move some large tracts of land into permanent preservation. For example, Betsy and Bill Downing were instrumental in working with the Nature Conservancy to transfer the Joyce Estate and the Diamond Point (previously Philips) properties to federal ownership. In addition, several families, like ours consider that families have an important role to play in conservation.

Our family pays about $4 per foot each year in property taxes and other costs for keeping a long stretch of shore healthy both for forest growth and fish reproduction and growth. If you would like to play a role in preserving the environment of the Wabana Chain of Lakes, please consider sponsoring a stretch of shoreline.
We seek partners wishing to help us preserve this shoreline. Please consider making a commitment to preserve 50′ of shore for $200 per year, 100′ of shore for $400 per year, or what would be considered a full “building lot” (250′) for $1000 per year. We will honor your commitment by listing you and your family among our sponsors. Multi-year commitments will be noted with signs on the shore commemorating your dedication to preservation and the future of our Chain of Lakes.
