It costs money to manage a forest for the future and we will appreciate and acknowledge any assistance offered. We have planted thousands of red and white pines along the shores, trying to move the shore zone back to the dense pine stands that were a key to keeping pristine water quality. Seedlings cost about $2.70 each (2022). We plant them and protect them from deer browsing. We also are experimentally protecting volunteer pines because we think that the local genetics is best to keep the forest stable with changing weather. This costs about $16 per tree to build cages out of 14-gauge galvanized welded steel 5′ wire fence. We also add a buried fertilizer amendment because the forest soil is calcium poor.

The Wabana Trust is not a 501(C)3 Non-Profit Organization, although we are certainly NOT making a profit on this work. Therefore, donations are NOT tax-deductible. However, you can know that your donation will benefit the lake, your neighbors and future generations.
Suggested donations
$15
$15 is all it takes to purchase about 6 white or red pine seedlings.
$50
With the right tools, we can keep more of our trees alive and protected from deer browsing and drying. This means faster growth and speedier water protection.

Your generous donation will help us to improve the forest for water quality protection and wildlife diversity.
